Jamaica is world famous for its endless shores of crystal clear beaches, Reggae and island music hot spots, gorgeous mountain views, and all inclusive Jamaica tourist destinations. Gently rolling ocean waves line the white sandy shore with elevated plains of grassy mountains filled with exotic plant life and wild creatures. This island offers the best of both worlds from an amazing sea setting to adventure filled tropical regions. Visitors can't help but make this country filled with all inclusive Jamaica activities a must-see place above other regions.
Jamaica's traditional setting and preserved culture makes it as authentic as it is beautiful. With a population filled with vibrant locals from a mainly African background, Jamaica boasts influences from around the world including Europe, Arabia, China, and East India.
This large island is the third biggest of the Caribbean's and is nearly one hundred and fifty miles long and in some parts reaches fifty one miles in width. With mountain ranges that reach a peak of seven thousand four hundred and two feet above sea level, Jamaica is known for its elevated terrain. Though the main language that is spoken in Jamaica is English, there is a native language that is well known by most natives and is a mix between African and English called Patois. Upon first listen, visitors find it difficult to keep up with this fast-paced English mix, but after a very short amount of time it becomes easier to adapt this language.
With Jamaica' rich and varied landscapes that include waterfalls, springs, rivers, and streams, this Caribbean destination will become an easy choice. All inclusive Jamaica adventures will feature river rafting, waterfall climbing, horseback riding, beach-combing, or just relaxing in a hammock.
Jamaica's beaches are nothing short of breath taking. If you are looking for an all inclusive Jamaica escape, you will want to visit each one. For those who are searching for a private cove setting, Jamaica's Negril holds a world-renowned seven-mile stretch of powdery white sand, all looking out onto the ultra-clear, turquoise waters of the Caribbean. Another beach featured in your all inclusive Jamaica adventure should be Montego Bay. This beach holds Jamaica's second-largest city, and allows its visitors to get a true sense of Jamaica's vibrant presence while experiencing the heart of a busy Caribbean town. Located in the middle of Jamaica's North Coast, Ocho Rios holds an amazing display of natural beauty. Get lost in the luxurious greenery, cavernous mountains that slope downwards to meet stunning beaches, and creamy blue skies. Get a taste of all inclusive Jamaica escapes with the island's rural South Coast. This area known as Whitehouse lets its visitors preview untouched scenery in a setting that remains undisturbed by tourism.
The island of Jamaica has attracted visitors from across the world for hundreds of years. Arguably discovered by Christopher Columbus, this island was originally thought to be a coast off of India. First settled by these Spanish inhabitants, the island began to be used for cattle-rearing and sugar cultivation.
Over the next hundred years Britain and Spain were competing for domination, and in l665 two British Admirals, Penn and Venables, were sent by the British ruler to capture the Spanish island of Hispaniola (modern day Haiti and Dominican Republic) but failed. Scared of returning to Britain empty handed, they turned their ships south and captured Jamaica instead.
By the end of the nineteenth century Jamaica was beginning to attract visitors to its cool mountains and stunning beaches. Also famous for modern day medical cures, the island plants (such as papaya and Indian cherries) and ancient local methods boasted miraculous cures for illnesses. All of these things began to draw British travelers and wealthy Americans. Getting there wasn't as simple as it is today. Lengthy sea voyages followed by horse-and-buggy trips to the hills all proved to be worth the amazing outcome.
Eventually this country became a hot spot for British and American fruit exports. Fruit ships plying the trade from England, the United States and Canada now carried an increasing number of vacationers. Jamaica soon became a favorite destination.
Soon guesthouses and small hotels were seeing large profits from international celebrities and royalty. Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Port Antonio, and the mountain town of Mandeville, were the vacation spots of choice. Then, in the Sixties and Seventies, the Flower Children arrived with their backpacks to camp on the sand or beg-a-cotch in Mas Joes Cold Supper Shop or on Aunty Maes verandah. Today, Jamaica is one of the most traveled destinations in the world.
